Because the right outfit doesn’t just get worn — it transforms the moment.
April’s submissions were so good. A workday that deserves to feel a little more you, and a 40th birthday that calls for something worth remembering.
Two very different moments. Two looks built around exactly how you want to feel in them.
Both rooted in that boho western spirit Melbelle does best — just styled for wherever life has you right now.
Let’s get into it…
BUSINESS COWGIRL OUTFIT FOR WORK
Style Request: Boho western
Budget: up to £400
OUTFIT DETAILS:
Chevron Turquoise Ring | Printed Long Sleeve Maxi Dress | Statement Boho Earrings | Fringe Bucket Bag | 2-In-1 Tan Cowboy Boots
This one felt like such a fun brief to style — because “work outfit” doesn’t have to mean boring. It just means finding the balance between polished and personal. And this look does exactly that.
I built everything around this printed maxi shirt dress from Debenhams. The paisley print, the earthy tones, the belted waist — it’s doing so much of the heavy lifting already. It feels considered and put-together without looking like you tried too hard, which is exactly the energy you want to walk into a workplace with.
The Penelope 2-in-1 Cowboy Boots are what ground the whole look and give it that western soul. What I love about the Penelope is the versatility — wear them as mid-calf for a more polished, structured feel, or convert them to ankle boots for something a little more relaxed. Either way, they work beautifully here.
From there, the accessories are all about layering in personality without overwhelming the dress. The fringe bucket bag adds texture and that boho western edge combined with practicality (space for a laptop), while the antique silver chandelier earrings keep things feminine and a little free-spirited. The chevron turquoise ring is the finishing touch — small, but it pulls the whole colour story together.
It’s warm, it’s effortless, and just dressed up enough to mean business.
40TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION FOR A HORSE LOVER
Style Request: Western boho
Budget: up to £400
OUTFIT DETAILS:
Horse Print Maxi Dress | Blue Cowboy Boots | Beige Cowboy Hat | Squash Blossom Turquoise Necklace
A 40th birthday deserves an outfit that feels like you — and when our next outfit request told me they loved horses and wanted something boho western, I knew exactly where this look was going.
I started with this horse print maxi dress from Cream at Debenhams, and honestly, it felt like it was made for this brief. The soft watercolour horses, the floaty silhouette, the muted cream tones — it’s romantic and free-spirited without being too much. Perfect for a celebration that deserves to feel special.
The colour story is what makes this look sing. Those powder blue cowboy boots are a showstopper — that unexpected pop of colour against the softness of the dress is exactly the kind of detail that makes people stop and say where did you get those? On your 40th, that’s exactly the energy you want.
The Houston Sand Cowboy Hat pulls everything together beautifully. The warm sand tone bridges the cream of the dress and the blue of the boots, keeping the whole look cohesive rather than costume-y. It’s the piece that takes this from pretty to intentional.
And then the squash blossom turquoise necklace — this is the soul of the look. There’s something so deeply western and timeless about a squash blossom, and the turquoise picks up that blue from the boots perfectly. It’s a statement piece that means something, which feels right for a birthday that means something too.
This is a look worth celebrating in.
